Community Guidelines

1. Purpose

Beit Midrash is a house of study — a place for serious, respectful engagement with Jewish texts and with one another. These Community Guidelines apply to the Feed, profiles, study groups, classrooms, messages, and any user-visible interaction.

Violations may result in content removal, feature restrictions, or account suspension.

2. Respect and dignity

Treat others with kavod (respect), even in disagreement. Do not:

• Harass, bully, or threaten other users
• Use slurs or dehumanizing language toward ethnic, religious, racial, gender, or other groups
• Doxx or publish private information without consent
• Stalk or repeatedly contact someone who has asked you to stop

3. Good-faith learning

Vigorous debate about texts and ideas is welcome. Personal attacks are not.

When discussing halakhah or sensitive topics, be clear that you are sharing learning perspectives — not issuing binding rulings unless you are appropriately qualified and that role is clearly understood in context.

Do not deliberately spread misinformation about texts, history, or current events.

4. Content standards

Do not post content that is:

• Illegal or promoting illegal activity
• Sexually explicit or exploitative, especially involving minors
• Graphic violence intended to shock or intimidate
• Spam, unsolicited advertising, or deceptive schemes
• Malware links or phishing attempts
• Plagiarized or posted without rights to share

5. AI and classroom use

AI assistants are study aids, not rabbis or teachers of record. Label AI-assisted material when sharing in groups if it could be mistaken for human scholarship.

In live classrooms, follow the host's instructions. Do not disrupt sessions, bypass waiting rooms, or record others without consent where recording is not explicitly allowed.

6. Privacy and safety

Only share personal contact information if you choose to and understand the risks.

Report content that violates these guidelines using in-app reporting tools or our Feedback page.

7. Enforcement

Moderators and administrators may warn users, remove content, mute classroom chat, restrict features, or suspend accounts. Serious or repeated violations may lead to permanent bans.

We may cooperate with law enforcement when required for safety or legal compliance.

8. Appeals

If you believe moderation action was taken in error, contact us through the Feedback page with your account email and a concise explanation. We will review in good faith but are not obligated to restore access.
